Terradyne Gurkha Armored Vehicle Gets A Civilian Edition
The Civilian Edition Terradyne Gurkha Price, Specs, And Details!
Updated October 28, 2018
We have already written about Gurkha a while ago in our 20 Most Bad-Ass Armored Vehicles on the Road article. Terradyne company’s Gurkha portfolio is available in three versions: LAPV, MPV, RPV. Canadians are now offering the Civilian Edition of their armored vehicle which is basically a toned down RPV. Don’t let the words toned down fool you, though. This vehicle is still huge and bulletproof.
So, What Is The Terradyne Gurkha Price?!
All Gurkha’s are based on Ford F-550’s platform and Civilian Edition is no different. It moves thanks to Ford as well, being fitted with Blue Oval’s 6.7-liter V8 turbo diesel engine capable of putting up 300 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque. 6-speed automatic transmission is carried over as well, and it routes all of the aforementioned power to all four wheels. Top speed and fuel efficiency aren’t something Gurkha Civilian Edition can boast with. Although top speed of 68 mph and 10 mpg fuel consumption aren’t the problem to army, police and various security forces, civilians might actually find that insufficient. On the other hand, someone willing to buy fully armored $278,000 behemoth, probably doesn’t care that much about Gurkha’s gas-guzzling habits. Yes – the Terradyne Gurkha price starts from $278,000.
Just like other, more meaner models in Terradyne’s portfolio fitted with CEN B7/STANAG 2 ballistic armor capable of withstanding armor-piercing ammo, Civilian Edition Gurkha too can withstand similar types of barrages. Although dubbed Civilian Edition, this vehicle is still capable of traversing through extremely rough terrain, ramming through obstacles and, what’s most important, protecting the passengers inside it. Maybe that’s why it has such a hefty price tag, after all. It’s still more affordable than many of its competitors, though.
