The 2012 Tushek Renovatio T500. The Slavic Supercar.
Updated August 21, 2012
Let me ask you great people a question. “Where the Hell is Slovenia?” Apparently Google says that it lies south of Austria, north of Croatia, and is somewhere in Central Europe. It’s a very mountainous region comprised of no more than 2.5 million people, about 6 million less then New York City. Quite a bit of the population has found success in their lives by means of Blue Collar work, and sports. So now, as of 2012 they can add auto manufacturing to their list of great successes.
The 2012 Tushek Renovatio T500, is Slovenia’s way of saying, “Hey, we want in on the exotic car market!” With it’s introduction earlier this year the 2012 Teshek Renovatio T500 will at some point join the “Supercar” elite. Now we all can fathom that making a supercar is a dream for some people, and others just want to sit in one, but here we have something that honestly doesn’t look half bad.
The 2012 Tushek Renovatio T500 is an open air designed 2 door coupe that not only comes with a removable hard top, but also slightly borrows cues from other supercars that are currently on the road. Well at least Slovenians would beg to differ. We find that the body is completely made from a Carbon Fiber, and it sits atop a tubular Aluminum chassis, which keeps the weight of the T500 to around 2500lbs. Not bad for a car this size. Now keeping in mind of what we have seen from other upstart supercar makers, we can already expect that motor was outsourced, to cut down on costs. The Slovenian team procured an Audi V8 motor for their project. The 4.2L, 450hp Audi V8 motor just sounds like there’s something wrong with this combination, but between the light 2 seater body, and Audi’s patented torqued out engine, the T500 still manages to pull a 3.5 second time from 0-60. “Allegedly.” Zero to 100mph times are a little sketchy at best, so there’s no official numbers to carve in stone. Top speed is said to be 193mph, not bad for a wide ass car with an Audi V8.
The look of the 2012 Tushek Renovatio T500 is a little common to say the least. The front fascia has wide, low slung open mouth feel, when coupled with the blank stare of the headlights, the T500’s look is rather dull. No information as to true function of the massive open space. With the roof on, it looks like a driver would suffer from headaches, because of hitting his head on it while getting in, or out of the car. With it off, the T500 becomes something that you would see driving down the strip of Miami Beach. Lamborghini style doors, help complete the flow of the sculpted side air dams, and the 20” Black wheels don’t hurt, being snugly tucked under the flat wheel arches. The rear fascia seems to have way too much going on for my taste. The wing, the sits on top of the rear bumper, and in front of the 4 beady looking taillights, make the rear end very unattractive.
The 2012 Tushek Renovatio T500, is a forced “Supercar” from a place where sports, hard work, and the success of the common man mean something. So for the time being, I hope that the T500 can show, and prove against its foreign brethren, because with it’s stats so far, it doesn’t really stand much of a chance in making it out alive.
