The 2013 Peugeot 208. Hooning Just Got A Whole Lot Better.
Updated September 17, 2012
As some of you out there in cyber world know, Peugeot has made sure that their name remains very relevant for the upcoming years, due to their almost constant releasing of photos, and videos that were all based on new, car models, conceptual, or otherwise.
In a previous article the Peugeot 2008 was highlighted, and little does anybody know that the 2008 model is based off of the Peugeot 208 Supermini car. So with that said, what is really good with the NEW 2013 Peugeot 208? What does Peugeot have in store for the masses than love the “Hot Hatch” style of cars in Europe? Peugeot has shocked everyone with the news of some bolder versions of their beloved 208 model hatch back.
For 2013 there will be two new versions of the 208, the 208 XY, and 208 Gti. Like most of it’s competitors the 2013 Peugeot 208’s shape will be slightly refined, with smoother, but more aggressive front fascia, that now incorporates a checkered flag motif in the grille. In keeping with the front end of the car, some may notice that the front of the car is slightly wider than the previous 207 model, and to ensure that the wider track is felt, the 2013 Peugeot 208 Gti comes with a slick set of 17” wheels. A rally inspired tapered roof line is highly noticeable on both the 2013 Peugeot 208, and 2008 models.
The 2013 Peugeot 208 Gti’s drive train will keep the 208 moving as fast as it looks. A stout 1.6L turbo-charged, four cylinder engine will keep this 208 Gti moving to the tune of 200hp, and about 196 pound feet of torque. Helping that 196pd feet of torque is a close ratio six(6) speed manual transmission, that will ensure one of two things. One would be participating in side by side racing with a Golf Gti, or Hooning it up, with some sweet burnouts. Either way the 2013 Peugeot 208 Gti, or 208 XY will provide some serious competition for all of the other Hoonigans who would be brave enough to challenge the driver of the new Peugeot 208.
