The 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR!
Close Up With The Brutale 800 RR
Updated August 15, 2018
MV Agusta recently unveiled their new Brutale 800 RR in Milan, and boy, are we impressed. The all-new Brutale comes with more power than ever before, even despite having to conform with the upcoming Euro4 emissions laws. That’s no mean feat, but did you expect anything less from one of the world’s most prestigious motorcycle manufacturers? Boasting a new power output of 140 hp, 63 lbs-ft of torque at 10,100 rpm, this top of the range three cylinder beauty is the stuff of dreams.
Here’s a little excerpt from MV Agusta’s press release, just to give you a small taste of just how impressed MV Agusta are of their new Brutale… “The revolution, by MV Agusta, has a new name: Brutale 800 RR. Adrenaline and pure style. A sublime riding experience that has enchanted riders in search of that something more, beyond extreme acceleration.
“After conquering unanimous positive feedback and being voted the most beautiful bike of the year (www.infomotori.com) for EICMA 2016 (Milan, Rho Pero, 8 to 13 November) the most beautiful naked of all time returns to be the most powerful, and the most technological, whilst boasting the lowest emissions within itss category. Thanks to the “RR” equipment, the quality of the Euro IV updates and implemented electronics, the experience of the MV Agusta Brutale RR is even more intense, immediate, fluid and adrenaline inducing: 140 hp from launch, a full torque curve, complimented with the best suspension and control package.
“So, MV Agusta strengthens its technological leadership in the year Euro IV regulations are introduced, reinterpreting the same performance led strategy that make it an icon in motorcycling: the ‘bad’ Schiranna naked, benefits from a thrilling riding experience accompanied with an exceptional level of refinement: less vibration, noise reductions of 50% compared to the previous model, lower emissions, more power, and less demanding set-up. A dream constructed around acceleration and design.”
As you’ve probably already guessed, they’re quite proud of their latest Brutale, and quite rightly so. Having said that, we’re not going to expose you to the full press release – it makes for hard reading because there are just too many superlatives in the text… So, allow us to give you the details in brief.
MV Agusta 2017: The Brutale 800 RR
Basically, the new Brutale 800 RR’s engine has had a few necessary tweaks, now comes with new forged wheels, and features an updated electronics package. The noise and emissions have been reduced thanks to an increased weight, and a few key changes, including a larger exhaust chamber to tackle the noise issue.
The electronics are the most significant update though, and the new Brutale 800 RR boasts a revised ride by wire system, a new quickshifter that facilitates clutchless up and down gear shifts, an on-board diagnostic program that has been built into the dashboard, eight levels of traction control, and dual channel ABS from Bosch.
The suspension duties are once again handled by Marzocchi up front and Sachs at the rear, with a new addition of a steering damper. The brakes are also the usual Brembo four piston units, with 320 mm discs.
At the moment, we’ve got no word on the price or the availability, but we can tell you that the 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR will be available in two color combos: Ice with Carbon Black Metallic, or Red Shock Pearl with Carbon Black Metallic…
