The BMW K1600 By Krugger Motorcycles, The Portal To The Future
Published February 6, 2015
The BMW K1600 by Krugger Motorcycles is a high concept custom motorcycle made by a proficient Belgian motorcycle builder who goes by the name Fred “Krugger” Bertrand. He dared to customize the terrifyingly complex machinery of the BMW K1600 and came up with a design straight from a science fiction movie. The monster motorcycle has seven in-built computers and has different drive modes giving you top notch versatility. The fact that the whole motorcycle is computerized gives you 100% assurance that you will have the best ride without worrying too much about the mechanics and moving parts.
With a straight six cylinder engine, the beauty meets the beast. The powerful engine delivers up to 161 horsepower making it dominate the road. As Krugger was customizing the original BMW K1600, he tried as much as possible to keep all the parts intact, but some of the components had to be shifted to accommodate the streamlined shape of the motorcycle. For instance, the radiators have been moved to the side.
Krugger has also incorporated a new swingarm which houses the exquisite six cylinder straight engine. The BMW K1600 by Krugger Motorcycles has the main fuel tank under the seat and the second fuel tank (complete with a filter) has been conveniently placed in the tail unit. As expected, the motorcycle is unusually heavy because of the many technical parts and the steel frame which is part of the custom build. It weighs over 700 pounds and is a monster by that definition.
The body work.
It would be very unfair to talk about such a beautiful custom motorcycle such as the BMW K1600 by Krugger without giving the specifics on the bodywork. The motorcycle has seamless steel bodywork along with handmade aluminum to build the attractive bodywork. It took an unbelievable 3000 hours to produce the Krugger BMW K1600; and it is this kind of dedication that has won Mr. Bertrand an AMD World Championship and also made the motorcycle win the Motorcycle of the Year award.
The Krugger BMW K1600 has a 21 inch front wheel and the rear wheel measure 20 inches. The suspension on the motorcycle is amazingly complex with the Duolever front suspension system. Unlike the telescopic fork found on other motorcycles, the Duolever suspension doesn’t need sliding and tackles damping and steering efficiently and at one go.BMW even considers the Duolever suspension system “the highest level of riding precision and steering accuracy”.
With this unusually heavy motorcycle, one might be a bit worried about how comfortable the ride would be. As earlier stated, the suspension system that it uses (duolever) is currently the best there is, period! This makes the ride comfortable and quite enjoyable considering the time taken to develop the suspension system. The motorcycle also has a newly installed Beringer brake system which is also said to be the best there is. The BMW K1600 by Krugger Motorcycles also comes with adaptive headlights hence no worries when it comes to different light conditions. So don’t expect this super motorcycle to deliver less than the Tron movie experience and I’m sure this is the ultimate introduction into the future.
