The Honda Accord Recall. Steering Clear Of Danger.
Published October 1, 2012
In automotive news, automaker Honda has just released word of a major recall that involves their prized flagship car the Accord. The Honda recall is affecting over half a million cars, well 573,000 to be exact. The Honda Accord recall stems from a small problem that lies with the steering. It seems that over some time, the Steering Hose has been deemed defective, and needs to be changed immediately. The defective line can fray, or crack in various spots, begin to leak Power Steering Fluid, and thus start an uncontrollable fire in the engine bay. Pretty much all Honda Accord owners will need to either drive to their nearest Honda dealership, or call and see what they can have done to ensure their personal safety.
This Honda Accord recall affects the following models.
- 2003 Honda Accord LX & EX V6 (2 Door & 4 Door)
- 2004 Honda Accord LX & EX V6 (2 Door & 4 Door)
- 2005 Honda Accord LX & EX V6 (2 Door & 4 Door)
- 2006 Honda Accord LX & EX V6 (2Door & 4 Door)
- 2007 Honda Accord LX & EX V6 (2 Door & 4 Door)
Honda spokesperson, Ed Miller stated that, “The recall is Honda’s top priority right now, and the manufacturer is doing everything it can to replace these hoses as quickly as possible.” The only issue with replacing them is that these affected models are all over five years old, and the hoses are no longer in production, so it’ll take until the beginning of 2013 before we can start changing them out in all of the cars listed on the recall.
