The Honda Neowing Concept Is A Tricycle We All Should Like
Updated April 4, 2017
Prepared for the Toyota Motor Show, the Honda Neowing Concept is the new Honda take on the century-old concept of a tricycle. Kawasaki did it, Yamaha as well and the Europeans have been selling their tricycle scooters for quite some time now. The Honda, on the other hand, is clearly taking a slightly different approach to it by creating some strange looking Neowing which kind of looks like a very angry ATV with one wheel missing at the back.
Luckily, there is much more to it than that. The Honda Neowing Concept is actually a hybrid. Not a hybrid between the bike and the ATV, but it has a hybrid propulsion underneath its, quite frankly, surprisingly serious and dangerous outside look. A flat four cylinder engine is apparently mated with the two electric motors. We can only wonder how all of this works. Probably, the front wheels are powered by the electric motors while the flat four is definitely powering the back wheel via a drive shaft. Interestingly enough, this model somehow reminds us of the Honda 2&4 concept revealed last month at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The same bizarre look characterized the Two and Four, but it must be sad that the tricycle looks a bit closer to production. It even has a nice seat, great looking front end decorated with carbon fiber pieces and a bunch of parts reminiscent of the Honda bike Goldwing. Anything resembling the Gold Wing definitely has our attention.
Nevertheless, the tricycle may become the norm on the streets. We clearly have a swarm of them coming in from Japanese manufacturers and with the CanAm and some other newcomers, the tricycles should become much more appealing.
