The Rock`s new movie will feature old 2004 Ford Bronco Concept

You knew the Bronco was coming back

Updated June 30, 2017

One of the biggest action movie stars, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, will star in “Rampage” movie which is set to premiere in 2018. However, he is not the only familiar face we will see as his ride in the movie is a 2004 Ford Bronco Concept. You might ask yourself why the movie from 2018 will feature a 14-year-old concept car? Well, here is the deal.

Back in 2004, Ford introduced the Bronco concept, a car which proved to be one of the most memorable concepts of the decade. The original Bronco was a much loved off-road SUV and 2004 version was a retro-futuristic take on the classic theme. The audience loved it so much that is still popular even today, 14 years after it was first shown. Ford didn’t put it in production then, but recently announced that the Bronco, in fact, will be returning for 2020 model year but most likely not in form of the 2004 concept.

So, why bother to put old concept car in the new movie if it isn`t going to be produced in the same form? We got two words for you – product placement. Ford knows that the name Bronco is familiar with the older generation but not with the millennials. So, by putting it in the movie, it will promote the name, so when the new model debuts in 2020, people will recognize it and hopefully flock to the dealerships to buy it.

The Car scene is so diverse Where I come from, most enthusiasts recognize the amazing engineering (particularly the engines). The bulk of the ridicule originates from the manner in which many of the vehicles are modded/maintained. Thus, the jokes and or hate tends to be aimed more at the owner rather than the machine. All of which makes seeing properly sorted old Toyota's and Hondas at car meets, auto shows, and track days all the more refreshing.
