The Zender Fiat 500 Abarth Corsa Stradale Has Left The Building.
Here’s a little something different to mull over for a bit. Now, I’m pretty sure that most of you out there in the world have seen all of the commercials advertising the Fiat 500, and it’s siblings, right? There’s the original commercial of a bunch of 500’s driving off of cliffs, narrow roads, and anything high up in the air, so that it can take a dramatic swim across the ocean so that it can pop on the beaches of the United States. It looks like the perfect car those people who wants something smaller, than your average played out Civic, but bigger than the lunchbox sized Scion IQ.
Then later on there were the commercials that featured Ms. Jennifer Lopez sporting a GUCCI branded Fiat 500c, and we all know who that commercial was geared to. That’s right, the ladies. This was one of those rare times when a car commercial was geared specifically to a woman. Needless to say, the GUCCI version of the Fiat was a great idea, but had a very limited run. It wasn’t bad or anything, there just aren’t enough female buyers in the market to push something like that.
Well, it looked like Fiat’s next move was to take a page from an American stand point of things, and figure out a way to make the Fiat 500 a little more appealing to the American market. Yeah of course the French loved the 500, but Die-hard Americans are still little apprehensive, since Fiat is the one that has the majority stake in Chrysler right now. So, with that in mind, the Fiat 500 sat itself down to a few Red Blooded Steak & Potato meals, added two doors, widened it’s face, and is now called the 500L. (I can only guess the L stands for LARGE.) It’s a weird looking, pig shaped car that somehow manages to squeeze 17” wheels under it, and has enough power to mildly compete with a MINI. Which coincidentally is it’s primary competition.
Now, if all of what I just laid out in front you sounds moderately OK, what if I told you there was a another Fiat that has just broken the silence of tuning, and will become available to anyone who wants one? You might be interested, no? Well there’s a company by the name of Zender, that wanted to make a statement by creating their own version of a Fiat 500 Abarth that would be able to stand it’s ground in just about any tuner show you brought it to. The Zender Fiat 500 Abarth Corsa Stradale Concept was created by the designers over at Zender Tuning. The custom fabricated body kit is strictly made out of out of Carbon Fiber, and then flush mounted to the front fascia, as well as the rear end of the Fiat 500 Abarth. Upon completion, the stance of the Fiat was almost complete. Everybody knows that in order to make a car look bigger than what it actually is, you need to make it wider, and with the help of some flared wheel arches, extra low side skirts, and a Carbon Fiber rear diffuser, the stance was at 75% completion. Now, as you can plainly see in the pics, that this kit is simply Bad Ass, and will grab the attention of anyone who can appreciate the look of a well thought out body kit. However, you can’t have a kick ass body kit, if you don’t have the right wheel & tire combo. Zender’s kit allows for some sweet looking 18” wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires to fit snugly under those big body arches.
Now you might be thinking that this kit is all exterior work, or as they say in the tuning business, “All Show & No Go”, and in this case you would be wrong. Under the hood of this spunky little Fiat lies the ultra boosted 1.4L, 4 banger that now makes 236Hp and 247lb feet of torque, which happens to be 76hp & 77lb feet of torque over what the stock Abarth makes. The Zender kit would also have the option of providing a top notch two tone, leather interior for those potential customers who want something different to look at as they sprint down the road. I mean the stock interior is good looking, but in all honesty, Black is beautiful, but it can boring after awhile. As it stands the Zender Fiat 500 Abarth Corsa Stradale kit is still in the developing stages, and announcements of it becoming available will publicized in the coming months.
