VW’s Ebola 150km electric car spotted again
Published December 8, 2010
VW owes its very existence to the vast riches of the Chinese market which lapped up the German automakers products faster than it could make them, so VW are eager to get into the next generation of cars here in China and plan to show off their first pure electric production car at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
The pure electric VW Bora will be produced by First Auto Works and Volkswagen at their Changchun factory in the coming years, the technical specs seem to be quite reasonable with the car having a maximum range of 150km on a single charge, more than enough for average city life. The electric motor will be capable of roughly 160Nm of torque and will have around 88bhp of power under the hood from its Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). Its array of 20Kwh lithium iron phosphate batteries will be able to reach a full charge within an hour, or a slow charge will see them reach 100% within 4 hours.
