Chinese Minister of Science and Technology Mr. Wan Gang dropped his official sedan during the National Congress last week and moved over to a BYD E6 electric vehicle. Wan Gang is no stranger to the automotive industry, he has worked for Audi and also at Tongji University where he led research into new energy vehicles. Mr. Wan made it to the top post at the Ministry of Science and Technology owing to his impressive background in new energy research, his lack of membership of the Chinese Communist Party has not hindered him in his impressive drive up the career ladder.

According to Wans own figures there are 27,800 new energy vehicles on the roads in China, but almost 80% of them are buses and the rest are commercial vehicles, these numbers are expected to increase to 39,000 by the end of March.
