2018 Dodge Charger Hellcat

If you love the handling and performance of a sports car but have numerous people to transport, you may be in the market for one of the 4 door sports cars listed below. Sports cars have the sleek look and high performance that many of us crave, but cramped or non-existent rear seats can be a deal breaker for anyone that has a family or friends to haul around.

In recent years, automakers have discovered that there is a market for 4 door sports cars and have produced vehicles that fill this niche nicely. We have pulled together eight of the best 4 door sports cars available; they offer a wide variety of performance specs and price ranges so you should be able to find a vehicle that works for your lifestyle and budget.

Keep reading to find the perfect four-door sports sedan!

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

The Charger SRT Hellcat is a full-on muscle car that is a real beauty and an absolute blast to drive while still functioning as a family sedan (albeit a pretty expensive one) thanks to its four doors.

The Hellcat starts at $67,000 and has a 6.2-liter V8 under the hood cranking out a shocking 707 HP. It can get up to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and tops out around 204 mph. The Hellcat is a rear-wheel drive car so if snow is a problem this may only really be an option for those in warmer climates. If the rear-wheel drive or steep price is a problem, the Charger SXT AWD is much more affordable, has an AWD drivetrain and cranks out almost 300 HP.

The Hellcat is offered in a variety of different colors, and numerous accessories are available so you can customize the car to your specifications. Whatever color and equipment loadout you choose, you’ll definitely be the coolest family on the road if you are rolling in a Hellcat.

Subaru WRX STI

The WRX STI is one of Subaru’s sportiest cars and is a favorite with street racers. The STI has a turbocharged, four-cylinder engine that produces 305 HP and comes with Subaru’s trademark all-wheel drive system, which makes sure the car sticks to the road regardless of the conditions or how hard you are driving.

The STI starts at $36,000 but the WRX is available in five trim levels ranging from $27,000 to $41,000 for the STI Limited. While the performance leaves little to be desired, Subaru is infamous for being a few years behind on interior design, so comfort and technology can be a bit underwhelming. Upgrade to the STI Limited if a high-end interior is a requirement.

Porsche Panamera Turbo S

A list of 4 door sports cars would not be complete without a Porsche Panamera. This was the first Porsche car to have four-doors and Porsche purists still don’t like it. However, if you need the added convenience of a four-door and the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, the Panamera may be the car for you.

The Panamera Turbo comes at a steep price with the base model starting at $150,000 and topping out at $160K for the Turbo Executive. This kind of coin will get you a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 550 HP and 567 lb.-ft. of torque as well as a very luxurious interior. Advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, park assist and surround view come as standard equipment.

If your budget can accommodate it, the Panamera is an excellent choice for a high-performance sports sedan.

Tesla Model S

As the only all-electric vehicle on our list, the Tesla Model S is truly in a class of its own. It offers the required four doors and can go from 0 to 60 mph in a very impressive 2.5 seconds.

The Model S is not only fast, it’s luxurious, sporting a 17” inch touchscreen console which controls most of the vehicle’s functions. It also comes with standard full LED adaptive headlamps, rearview camera, keyless entry, parking alerts, and power folding and heated side mirrors. In addition, its enhanced autopilot will drive the vehicle for you in certain conditions. It is a truly luxurious ride.

The main issue with this 4 door sports car is the fact that it’s an all-electric vehicle so you won’t be winning any non-stop cross-country races in this beauty. However, with the P100D battery, Telsa claims you can manage 337 miles per charge and thanks to a network of quick charge stations scattered around the country, driving cross-country is not a major problem.

Jaguar XJR

The Jaguar XJR is a lovely car with a big engine under the hood. It is the perfect combination of sports and luxury. The supercharged 5.0 L V8 engine puts out 550 HP, has a top speed of 174 mph and will get up to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

The $118,000 starting price will probably be a stumbling block for most of us but if you have the budget, the XJR is a great ride. The interior is both high-tech and luxurious; a virtual instrument panel, 8″ full-color touchscreen display and parking aid with touch-screen visual indicators are all standard equipment.

The XJ is available in four trims so if the XJR is out of your price range you can downgrade to the XJ R-Sport, which starts at $74,400 and drops in a 3.0 Liter V6 which pushes out 340 HP. Whatever trim you end up with, you cannot go wrong with this 4 door sports car.

Cadillac CTS-V

Cadillac is known for producing luxury cars but in recent years they have also moved into the luxury sports car market with sexy examples like the CTS-V and ATS-V. The latest CTS-V is the most powerful car Cadillac has ever produced with a 6.2L V8 under the hood pumping out 640 HP, topping out at 200 mph and capable of going zero to 60 in 3.7 seconds.

Since it’s a Cadillac you can count on a luxurious interior that offers a supremely comfortable ride. You can customize the instrument cluster which is a 12.3-inch high-definition display that works alongside a heads-up display which projects vehicle data onto the windshield.

The CTS-V starts at $86,000 but is one of the best all-around cars on our list of 4 door sports cars.

Volkswagen GTI 4-Door

The GTI is the sporty version of the Golf and is an affordable option on our list of 4 door sports cars. While you won’t hit 200 mph in the GTI, it is a very quick car that combines excellent handling with stunning good looks. It comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbo direct injection engine which can push the GTI from zero to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds.

An affordable price doesn’t mean you have to give up convenience and technology, though. The GTI comes with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and an eight-speaker sound system with a CD player. Pricing starts at an approachable $25,595 and runs up to $34,000 for the Autobahn trim.

Volvo S60 Polestar

Volvo is not exactly the first automaker that springs to mind when you think of sports cars, but the S60 Polestar is an excellent example of a 4 door sports car that is fun to drive and will keep your family safe.

The S60 Polestar was developed with the Polestar race shop and is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine that puts out 345 HP and can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4.4 seconds. All-wheel drive is standard and an 8-speed gearbox makes sure that all of that power is safely and efficiently transferred to the road.

Like all Volvos, technology and safety are top priorities, with features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot and cross traffic alerts, and driver alert control coming as standard equipment.

The Polestar starts at $60,000.

About Chris Riley

I have been wrecking cars for as long as I've been driving them, but I keep coming back for more. Two wheels or four, I'm all in. I founded GearHeads.org and then built and ran AutoWise.com until selling it to Lola Digital Media in 2020. I look forward to watching AutoWise grow as part of the AllGear group.
