Top 10 Ultra Expensive Optional Car Features You Can Buy

The Most Expensive Car Add-Ons You Definitely Don’t Need

We all know of the expensive lifestyles of the rich and famous and their luxury choices of cars that are worth more than most people’s homes. While the majority of us can’t make up our minds whether or not to add a Vienna Leather trim in our average rides at a monthly cost of $50, the wealthy folks are parting with six figures for vehicle customizations at high-end dealerships.

It is all about prestige. Wealthy people will always spend large sums of money on ultra-luxury sedans and even pay a higher premium for exclusive brands, higher quality, and great performance just to flaunt their wealth. Then there is that other category of true car fans who are willing to spend as much as it takes to have their rides fitted with the most innovative features and designs. They’ll go to great lengths to increase performance, upgrade interiors, or simply pay a premium for optional car features that are completely invisible to the casual onlooker. All in all, these premium and often costly upgrades are exclusively reserved for the elites. Let’s take a quick look at ten ultra expensive car options money can buy.

10. Tesla Ludicrous Mode – Cost: $10,000

After its launch in 2012, the Tesla Model S received rave reviews and was even referred to by many as the electric dream car. It came with unprecedented features such as the Autopilot, making it a car in its own class. Its 12.3 inch liquid display panel was a first in the car industry. It came with innovative features that really did change the driving experience for many.

Tesla Model S is not just a technological spectacle, but a fast car too. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds, a first for a 4 door car. If you want to add the optional Ludicrous Mode in a Tesla Model S, and have it do 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds, expect to pay no less than $10,000.

9. Gold Plated Spirit of Ecstasy – Cost: $10,000

Rolls Royce’s flying lady emblem, the Spirit of Ecstasy, is renowned worldwide as a luxury symbol. Since the early ‘90s, the Spirit of Ecstasy has undergone several changes, the latest being the 2003 version. The little ornament is so delicate that it is designed to retract inside the radiator in case it is struck. There is even a button inside the vehicle that can lower the ornament to prevent it from being damaged or stolen. The prestigious emblem is made of well polished stainless steel but you can give it 24-carat gold plating for an extra $10,000.

8. Rolls Royce Phantom Starlight Roof – Cost: $12,350

If you are an avid fan of DJ Khaled, you may have noticed him on Snapchat inside his Rolls Royce with a Starlight Roof. The Rolls Royce Phantom has an optional Starlight Roof feature that Rolls fans call “Under The Stars”, available at a cost of $12,350. As Rolls says, the roof has a unique constellation made of over 1300 fiber optic lights that are manually installed in a period of 17 hours. Creating the Starlight Roof is indeed a painstaking meticulous job done by the best craftsmen, which is why it comes at such an insane cost.

7. Lexus LS Reclining Back Seats – Cost: $16,400

The Lexus LS is not a really top choice among luxury sedans. It is often overshadowed by other popular choices such as the Maybach, but at close inspection, the LS is actually a quiet and comfortable luxury ride.

It has a limousine look which is why many LS owners prefer to be chauffeur-driven in this car. Its back seats have a mini limo design that allows the car owner the luxury of stretching back easily for better relaxation. However, the rear reclining seats are an optional addition that comes at a cost of $16,400.

6. BMW i8 Custom Louis Vuitton Luggage Set – Available at a cost of $20,000

The i8 was at first a concept model but in 2013 it had become a full production model. It is recognized as the first hybrid to come from the German car manufacturer and has been praised for its sci-fi looks, overall design, and great performance.

Like all the other sports cars, the i8 also suffers from the lack of adequate storage space. To overcome this short coming, BMW teamed up with Louis Vuitton to create an exclusive luggage set that would help the car owner to carry along essential stuff in style. They created a custom carbon black 5-piece luggage set for the car that costs an unbelievable $20,000. Well, almost the cost of buying another good car.

5. A 2 year extended warranty for a Lambo goes for $33,800

Lamborghini’s Aventador was released in February 2011 to replace the Murcielago, the company’s flagship model. The Aventador has a base price of $400,000. However, trim options and a few other extra additions push its price to 2.8 million dollars. An extended warranty of the car will cost you the price of a luxury car. It has a 3 year warranty, but if you need an extra year warranty you’ll have to pay an extra $11,600, and for a fifth year warranty you will pay $22,200. So a 2 year extended warranty for the Aventador will set you back a total of $33,800. Insane, if you look at it from a bystander’s point of view.

4. The Granite Interior of a Maybach costs $60,000

The ultra-luxury Maybach comes with a diverse range of features and options to make the car truly customized to the taste and style of its owner. If you see someone driving, or being driven, in a Maybach then be sure that is a member of the upper echelon of your society. The base model of the car begins at around $200,000, but the cost hikes as you add custom features to the car. For instance, its granite trim interior costs $60,000. You can imagine parting with $60k to give your car a granite interior, not even a modern top-of-the-range- kitchen counter costs that much.

3. Liquid Metal Paint for a Porsche 918 Spyder Costs $63,000

One thing we can say about Porsche is that it has an endless range of optional features. For any modification you add to the car the price tag shoots up way beyond its MSRP. Take the Porsche Spyder for example. It is a hybrid super car with a price tag of around $850,000. If you are lucky to purchase one, be prepared to pay an insane amount of more money for optional features such as a carbon fiber interior that is available at a cost of $10,000 and the optional authentic leather interior for an additional $26,000. Well, that is not much considering that the Liquid Metal Silver Paint option for a Porsche 918 costs $63,000. Think of paying the price of a Porsche Boxter for paint.

2. A Breitling Clock for the Bentley Bentayga costs $160,000

The first luxury SUV from Bentley hit the production line in November 2015. It has a base price of $232,000 and a wide range of options that push its price sky high. Its 2017 special edition, featuring a Breitling watch, sold out all its 608 units pretty fast, prompting Bentley to add a Breitling clock on the dashboard as an optional feature.

The optional Breitling clock comes at a cost of $160,000. The clock features the latest clock technology and is plated in white gold or solid rose. It even has an automatic winding mechanism.

1.The Carbon Finish of a Bugatti Veyron Costs $300,000

Rapper Ace Hood sang “Woke Up in a New Bugatti” but never told us if the car had a carbon finish. If it didn’t, then it doesn’t matter which car he woke up in.

To make the Veyron, a 2 million dollar ride, even more epic, Bugatti chose to add a custom carbon finish option at a cost of an unbelievable $300,000. Well, that is almost the same amount of money you would pay for a reasonably sized home, including redecoration costs.
