best 2 seater cars - Toyota GR Supra

If you’re looking to buy one of the best 2 seater cars on the market today, you likely aren’t too worried about practicality or cargo space. You want the ultimate in performance and style — and are willing to give up the extra room to get it. These 2 seater cars offer the kind of driver’s experience that you just can’t get with a sedan, crossover, SUV, or truck.

11 Best 2 Seater Sports Cars

If you are one of these people, we salute you. You’ve said to hell with accommodations and are looking to make an emotional connection with the open road. So step out of your daily grind and get behind the wheel of one of these beauties. We doubt you’ll regret a minute you spend at the helm of one of the best 2 seater cars.

Aston Martin Vantage

Holding true to Aston Martin’s form, the gorgeously styled Vantage is an agile missile with some seriously raw power under its sleek bonnet. The coupe comes with a 4L twin-turbo V8 that makes just over 500 hp and 500 lb.-ft. of torque. Combined with the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, the Vantage hits 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 195 mph.

Inside, both driver and passenger are treated like royalty in the compact cockpit. The 8-way adjustable leather sports seats are heated and embossed with an Aston Martin Wings logo. From the sport-orientated gearshift paddles to the driver-centric center console, the Vantage is clearly designed to enhance the driver experience.

The Vantage is also available as a roadster and in an F1 Edition with special livery and a performance boost. Aston Martin is also teasing a V12 Vantage, rumored to be coming sometime in 2022.

Audi R8

Audi’s performance coupe is one of the best 2 seater cars designed for speed — and to turn heads. The 5.2L V10 makes up to 602 hp and 406 lb.-ft. of torque which is good for a top speed (on track) of 205 mph and a 0-60 of 3.2 seconds. From the carbon fiber touches to the sporty rims and brakes, the exterior of the R8 looks the part.

Inside, the Audi R8 balances a mix of simple, retro styling and modern cockpit design. Though decidedly less tech-heavy than some of its current counterparts, the R8 is focused on everything the driver needs — without all the flashy extras.

Front and center, the driver gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument display which, when the R8 is flipped into Sport mode, features a large tach and other performance stats. Which you might find is all you really care about when you get behind the wheel of this 2 seat, rear-wheel-drive bullet.

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

Chevrolet’s next generation of the iconic Corvette was designed to turn heads. Plus, thanks to those eye-catching Corvette colors, you can choose to make a statement. And though the styling might not be everyone’s cup of tea, this bold 2 seater sports car delivers on the thrills thanks to its mid-engine design.

That same 6.2L LT2 V8 engine makes easy work of 0-60 — with the top-end Z51 package, it boasts a speedy 2.9-second 0-60. But even without the top-level performance package, the V8 makes a perfectly respectable 495 hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque making this Corvette the most powerful production Stingray yet. You can opt for either a 2 seat convertible or coupe.

Corvette claims the driver’s seat was inspired by fighter jets, and the wraparound dash and sleek center console caters to that feel. From the track-day-inspired and leather-wrapped seats to the shape of the steering wheel, this is one of the top 2 seater cars designed to make the driver feel right at home.

Jaguar F-Type

The F-Type is Jaguar’s lean and athletic 2 seat sports car option. Available as both a coupe and a convertible, the F-Type can be optioned out with a variety of trims and performance upgrades. No matter how you option it, the sleek car comes with a V8 under the hood.

Depending on your package, the 5.0L V8 makes in the range of 444 to 575 hp. The top-of-the-line P450 V8 in the RWD model claims a top speed of 177 mph and a 0-60 of 4.4 seconds. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the F-type is available in either an all-wheel-drive or rear-wheel-drive configuration.

Opt for the Interior Luxury Pack to outfit the cabin with even more leather, premium lighting, and illuminated treadplates. Add heating and cooling to your 12-way adjustable driver’s seat, and you can bet the feel from behind the wheel is geared for comfort as well as smiles per mile.

Lotus Emira

The 2 seat Lotus Emira combined exotic looks with daily driver practicality. If you want a car that looks like a supercar but still offers plenty of comfort and functionality, the Emira is one 2 seater that is relatively affordable — at least when compared to a supercar.

The 3.5L supercharged V6 makes 360 hp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque which, when paired with the Emira’s tidy package, is good for a 4.3-second 0-60 and a top speed of 180 mph. The 2023 Emira will also be available with an inline 4.

The interior of the Emira is outfitted with plenty of creature comforts from USB chargers to cupholders, but the real fun is behind the wheel. Thanks to the clever aerodynamic package and driver-focused design, the Emira is finely tuned for high-speed corning as well as speed in a straight line. You can even opt for a 6-speed manual if you want to row your own gears for an even more immersive driving experience.

Mazda MX-5 Miata

The Mazda Miata has long been considered one of the best affordable 2 seater cars on the market. And the newest iteration, the MX-5 Miata, holds true to that heritage with a lightweight, 2 seat design made for the driving enthusiast who might be shopping on a budget.

The MX-5 Miata makes 181 hp and 151 lb.-ft. of torque. Though those specs sound modest when compared to its 2 seater cars competition, the Miata’s 2,400 lb. curb weight quickly evens out the odds if you consider the power-to-weight ratio. Plus, with a 50-50 weight distribution, the Miata offers an agile and balanced feel behind the wheel.

You can opt for several different trim levels with the Grand Touring package including an upgraded leather interior. And as one of the few manual sports cars left, the MX-5 Miata should be on your shortlist if you’re searching for a stick shift.

Mercedes AMG GT

Mercedes continues to up their sports car game with the latest Mercedes AMG GT. This luxury sports car has a motorsports pedigree to back up its sleek good looks. The engineering behind the AMG GT results in a dramatic car that can take on the track as easily as it can cruise on the road.

The base AMG GT coupe comes standard with a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 that makes 523 hp and 494 lb.-ft. of torque. The AMG GT can sprint to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. The V8 is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and delivers power to the rear wheels. Upgrade to the C or the Black Series, and you’ll see a bump to 550 and 720 ponies, respectively.

The cabin of the AMG GT benefits from Mercedes trademark opulent touches — from the heated and ventilated leather seats to the panorama roof. There’s plenty of tech sprinkled throughout the interior, too.

Nissan Z

The long-anticipated Z car update takes the best features of the 2 seat Nissan 370 Z and builds on them. The iconic sports car keeps its trademark looks but gets some significant power and tech upgrades.

The Nissan Z is the most powerful Z car to date, with a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 making 400-hp. Pair that with a 6-speed manual transmission, and you’ll be piloting this rear-wheel-drive sports car through the turns with a smile on your face. A 9-speed automatic transmission is also available.

Inside, the Nissan Z sits the driver squarely at the helm with a new digital gauge cluster, GT-R-inspired steering wheel, and a 9-inch touchscreen display. The specially designed performance seats are engineered to handle lateral loads and keep you firmly in place should you decide to take a spirited drive through the twisties.

Porsche 718 Cayman / Boxster

No matter which flavor of the 718 you choose (and there are more than a couple models to choose from), you’ll be treated to Porsche’s legendary driving performance in a capable 2 seater. These mid-engine roadsters were designed to deliver precision handling for performance driving but also be comfortable enough for everyday use.

Performance specs vary between the models, but even if you opt for the base 718 Cayman, you’ll still be treated to 300 hp and 280 lb.-ft. of torque courtesy of the 2.0L turbocharged boxer 4. On the other end of the spectrum, the 718 Cayman GTS 4 offers 394 hp and around 309 lb.-ft. of torque from a 4.0L boxer 6.

Porsche doesn’t skimp on creature comforts on the inside, though the design is perhaps a bit more traditional and less flashy than other brands. That’s fine though as it won’t distract you from the business at hand — roaring down the open road. And if 2 seater cabriolets (i.e. convertibles) are more your style, opt for the 718 Boxster for a drop-top rendition.

Porsche 911 GT3

If you want a true 2 seat 911, the 911 GT3 delivers an exceptional driver experience in one of Porsche’s most legendary models — without the annoyance of cramped back bucket seats. In this track-day-ready edition of the 911, the back seats are replaced with a rear seat delete for additional weight savings.

Available in a standard and grand touring configuration, both versions of the GT3 come with a 4.0L boxer 6 that makes 502 hp and 346 lb.-ft. of torque. When paired with rear-wheel drive and a 7-speed PDK, the GT3 rockets to 60 in 3.2 seconds and can max out at 197 mph. And, perhaps most importantly for the stick shift enthusiasts, the GT3 is available with a 6-speed manual option as well.

You should immediately feel at home behind the wheel, as the cockpit has been thoughtfully designed with a precision that nods to the 911’s motorsport heritage. From the heated sport seats to the GT3 sport steering wheel, you can cozy right in and get ready to tackle whatever road — or track — lies before you.

Toyota GR Supra

Toyota’s 2 seater sports car packs style and performance into a relatively affordable package. The sleek GR Supra is available in four trim levels all designed to deliver exceptional performance and handling in a 2 seat package.

The base GR Supra comes equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that makes 255 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque. If you want the maximum ponies available, you’ll have to opt for the A91-CT edition which sports a 3.0L turbocharged inline-6 that makes 382 hp and 368 lb.-ft. of torque. That’s good for a 3.9-second sprint to 60 and a top speed of 155 mph.

As far as the interior of the GR Supra goes, you’ll be greeted by a sporty mix of leather and Alcantara. The heated 14-way adjustable sport seats put you in the optimal position, and the 8.8-inch digital gauge cluster can be set to show the stats you care about whether you’re hustling on track or out for a cruise on the highway.

Get Behind the Wheel of the Top 2 Seater Cars

In any of these 2 seater cars, you can enjoy the open road as you zoom through the countryside or take a day trip to the city and show off your style. With so many great 2 seater cars on the market, both new and used, and it’s easy to see why you might opt for a 2 seater sports car with just enough room for two.
