The Jeep Wrangler Willys has been a popular seller, with looks inspired by the original Willys Overland CJ-3A. It was first built in 1948 and considered the father of recreational vehicles, along with a dose of heavy-duty Trail Rated component upgrades should you want to hit the trails. And now, this iconic package is being offered on the Jeep Gladiator, giving owners an aggressive look and additional increased capability. And unlike the Rubicon model, this one won’t break the bank. So what makes the 2021 Jeep Gladiator Willys so special? Keep reading to find out.
1. Increased Off-Road Capabilities
The Jeep Gladiator Willys edition features a limited-slip rear differential, Rubicon spec cab rock rails and shocks, and 32-inch BFGoodrich KM2 mud-terrain tires. These features, combined with Jeep’s Command-Trac 4×4 part-time two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio, bolster the Gladiator Willys’ off-road capability.
2. A Rugged And Strong Appearance
Special exterior design cues feature a Willys hood decal, heritage 4WD tailgate decal, unique black 17-inch aluminum wheels with gray pad print, a gloss black sport grille, and body-colored fender flares. All-weather slush mats are also standard. The Sport S based Gladiator Willys also includes standard Technology Group with a 7-inch touchscreen Uconnect radio, complete with connective services and Convenience Group, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.
3. Available On (Cheaper) Sport and Sport S Models
While there’s no question that the Gladiator Rubicon is a beast, it’s also crazy expensive, with a base price of $45,000 that can easily balloon up to $55,000-60,000 depending on options. The 2021 Jeep Gladiator Willys doesn’t have to break the bank, with a starting price of just $35,265. You can use some of those savings to customize your rig and make it uniquely yours.
4. Trail Rated To Tackle Whatever Mother Nature Throws At You
All Gladiator models are Trail Rated with a badge indicating that the vehicle is designed to perform in a variety of challenging off-road conditions identified by five key consumer-oriented performance categories: traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation and water fording. So no matter what kind of fun/trouble you’re getting into, the Gladiator Willys will be up for the challenge.
5. A Wide Variety Of Color Choices To Choose From
The Gladiator Willys edition is available in eight colors: Black, Granite Crystal, Sting Gray, Billet, Firecracker Red, White, Hydro Blue, and Snazzberry. The truck looks great in all of these colors, so the hardest part may be deciding which one to go with. Me, I’m partial to Sting Gray, but I’ve yet to see a Gladiator color that I don’t like.
