Who doesn’t dream of having a car that can smoke tires on demand, do a wheelie, and comes with a parachute?!?! The 2021 Dodge Challenger Mopar Drag Pak factory race car is the stuff of childhood dreams. It will be the quickest, fastest, and most powerful Mopar Drag Pak ever.
With a supercharged 354-cubic-inch HEMI V8 under the lightweight aluminum hood, this Dodge Challenger race car can cover the 1/4 mile in under 8-seconds. Just remember though, this is a race car and not street legal. Dodge designed the 2021 Mopar Drag Pak specifically to “…give sportsman racers a new, turnkey package, loaded with suspension and chassis upgrades and built for NHRA and NMCA competition.”
Ther brand will build only 50-unit serialized 2021 Dodge Challenger Mopar Drag Pak cars. These fifty cars will come with a starting price of $143,485. Production should start in early 2021, but you need to get on the list now if you want any chance at owning one of these turn-key track monsters.
Here’s what Mark Bosanac, Head of Mopar Service, Parts & Customer Care, FCA – North America has to say about the new racecar:
“Our new Dodge Challenger Mopar Drag Pak is produced specifically for sportsman racers to secure and own bragging rights at the drag strip. From the supercharged HEMI® V-8 power under the hood to the advanced suspension, chassis technologies, and an all-new NHRA-certified roll cage, we can’t wait to give our loyal performance enthusiasts another purpose-built muscle car to carry the Mopar flag across the finish line first.”
2021 Dodge Challenger Mopar Drag Pak
There is a ton of awesome that makes up this incredibly quick factory race car. For now, though, let’s just dive into what’s new on this 2021 machine over the 2020 Mopar Drag Pak cars.
Under The Hood
The supercharger on this race car has a larger capacity than many vehicles’ entire engine! The 2021 Mopar Drag Pak has an all-new 3.0-liter Whipple twin-screw supercharger atop its already massive 354-cubic-inch HEMI V8. An all-new motorsports specific electrical “brain” controls that massive motor and supercharger setup. The new electrical architecture consists of a programmable Holley Dominator Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) vehicle-management system and a programmable Racepak Smartwire Power Distribution Module.
Rigid Saftey
Not only does the all-new integrated NHRA certified roll-cage add a ton of stiffness to the car, but it is also certified for elapsed times as low as 7.50 seconds in the quarter-mile. The TIG-welded 4130 chromoly roll cage helps the car get off the line in a hurry and ensures the safest racing possible in such a missile of a car.
Suspension Upgrades
The 2021 Dodge Challenger Mopar Drag Pak has a new four-link rear suspension setup. This should help it stay planted down the entire track. The new suspension replaces the Panhard Bar of prior models with a wishbone link, to improve lateral vehicle control. To round out the rear suspension upgrades, the car uses a 250% stiffer anti-roll bar.
Maybe the biggest upgrade under the car for 2021 is exclusive double-adjustable Drag Pak-specific tuned Bilstein coilover shocks at all four corners of the car. The new Bilstein’s have 10 compression and rebound damping settings for easy tuning. No matter the track conditions you encounter you can now fine-tune the car quickly with just the twist of a few color-coded knobs at each corner of the car.
Look Good While Going Fast
The 2021 Drag Pak comes in “White Knuckle” as standard. Also standard is a graphics package that includes the Mopar logo and additional “dragpak” or “direct connection” billboard graphics on the quarter panels, a wide center stripe flanked by tracer stripes across the top of the car, and a graphics band with a tracer line along the lower quarter panels. Besides the white base color, buyers can option the Challenger Drag Pak in “Hellraisin,” “Pitch Black,” “Smoke Show,” “TorRed,” and “Frostbite.”
