Is Ford looking to take on the Wrangler? We hope so.
Over the past few years Ford has been making their SUV’s all AWD Crossovers and therefore if you want something capable off-road that is Ford you had to either get the Ford F-150 or the Ford F-150 because that’s it. The Ford Explorer is now designed to utilize efficiency, the Ford Escape looks like a Ford Focus is shooting steroids and the Ford Edge says that the vehicle is not capable in the owner’s manual. So now we see that there is a niche of SUV’s that is actually growing in front of us because everyone is being a pussy and making their SUV’s into minivans. The new Nissan Pathfinder looks less capable than the Murano Crosscabriolet. The Nissan Xterra may vanish, the Chevy Tahoe could become a hunkered down crossover therefore destroying ground clearance and all while the Jeep sales are up because people are buying Wranglers and Grand Cherokees. There is certainly those of us that want the ability to get off the beaten path and get the hell away from society every once in awhile. We’ve been seeing Ford announce a number of new vehicles.
2015 Ford Bronco Specs
So word from our Ford insider is that the 2015 Bronco concept is getting some interest from the corporate brass and from what we are told we really like what we are hearing. First off the Bronco will be based on the F-150 chassis and will only come in the shared 4WD system of the F-150. In fact it seems that the Bronco will share many parts with the Ford F-150 therefore cutting cost for development. The engine choices for the 2015 Ford Bronco that are being mulled over that certainly caught our attention is the 3.5L Ecoboost, 5.0L and the 4.5L Diesel engine options. No word on the specifics but it could possibly mean an SVT edition that uses the 5.0L and possibly some FOX shocks like the Ford Raptor. Sweet! Expect to see a 2Dr and 4Dr version of this 2015 Bronco.
2015 Ford Bronco Price
Whatever the case, we hope that Ford builds the 2015 Bronco with a removable top and power to spare. I certainly would be waiting in line with some cash in hand like a hipster waiting for the latest Apple item. So please Ford bring back that boxy beauty and let’s start a pissing contest between Ford’s and Jeep’s because we would all win with that happening. As for price, expect the Bronco to start at a competitive rate with the Wrangler of around $26,000.
