The winning formula lately has been for car manufacturers to throw big horsepower, big brakes, big wheels, sharp lines, and a sporty interior at their luxury SUVs. The Jaguar F-Pace has always been a sporty SUV, but the latest SVR edition takes that to a new level. The 2021 Jaguar F-Pace SVR is a big cat that has plenty of bite to back up its growl.
“The move to Jaguar’s new Electrical Vehicle Architecture gave us the opportunity to revisit the calibration of every single component, so we took the chance to fine-tune the driving experience to make it feel even more focused and even more refined,” said Paul Barritt, F-PACE SVR Chief Programme Engineer, Jaguar SV.
2021 Jaguar F-Pace SVR Performance
There is little doubt that this SUV will have more of a snarl than a purr. With a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 under the hood, it is sure to make a ruckus. The F-Pace SVR can now reach 178 mph and hit 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.8-seconds, an increase of 2 mph and .3 seconds respectively over the outgoing model. While not huge gains, this big cat could already move quickly. Now on tap are 550-hp and 526 lb.-ft. of torque to make those performance numbers happen. A new “Dynamic Launch” system helps make the sprint times faster, by using “driveline inertia to maintain power to the wheels during gear changes.”
When you throw big power at an SUV it is best to also throw big brakes at it to match. The brakes on the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace SVR are huge, and have been improved with new pads and better cooling. A new Power Booster and re-tuned brake system make for an even “sportier and shorter brake pedal.”
An 8-speed transmission, with paddle shifting, and standard AWD help keep this big cat planted and ready to spring into action with the slightest touch of the skinny pedal.
Besides the big power and big stopping power the F-Pace SVR also got a steering upgrade. A new electronic power-assistance system is said to deliver “greater immediacy, providing a heightened connection between the vehicle and driver.” What we read into that is a sharper handling vehicle with a tight and slightly heavier steering, or at least that’s what we’re hoping for. The re-tuned Adaptive Dynamic suspension should also help make this big cat get around corners in a hurry.
SVR Exterior Upgrades
The new exterior treatment of the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace SVR is inspired by Jaguar‘s racing efforts. Not only does it look sharper, but it enhances brake cooling and reduces front-end lift by 35%, and is even more aerodynamic, with a reduction in drag to 0.36 Cd.
2021 F-Pace SVR Interior
Inside the latest F-Pace SVR is a super luxurious and sporty interior worthy of a go-fast Jag. Materials, like Alcantara and Windsor leather with accent stitching, let you know this machine is ready to rumble. Optional sports seats not only look good, but hold you in place when you start pulling Gs in the corners with this fast cat.
A big 12.3-inch HD driver display is wrapped in Alcantara and accented with aluminum finishes, with carbo-fiber accents as an option. The latest Pivi Pro infotainment system dominates the dash with an 11.4-inch HD curved glass touchscreen. Over-the-air software update capability is now standard on this latest system.
Add in a dimpled leather drive selector and SVR split-rim steering wheel with metal paddle shifters and the touchpoints of the F-Pace SVR even feel sporty.
