The new GMC Hummer EV “Supertruck” will officially debut Fall 2020. Hummer is taking reservations now and the vehicle goes into production in Fall of 2021. The latest teaser video features Lebron James and offers some new insights into the new Hummer brand.
We’re most excited about the vehicle we can expect next — a next-generation Hummer SUV.
GMC Hummer EV “Supertruck”
This latest teaser out of GMC highlights some of the exciting specs that have already been announced. It hints at a few new features. GMC has stated that the Hummer EV pickup is “The World’s First Supertruck.” The announced specs are impressive, but “supertruck” is a bold claim.
From the teaser images, the truck looks to offer 4-doors and a super short truck bed. It apparently also has an “open-air infinity roof” with “modular sky panels.” The Jeep Wrangler freedom panels have sparked a whole new generation of open roof 4WD vehicles, including the 2021 Bronco.
What has us most excited about the new GMC Hummer EV pickup? I’d have to say it’s the insane 1,000 horsepower. Or maybe it’s driving modes named “adrenaline” and “crab.” Who doesn’t want to drive a vehicle with crazy drive modes like that!?!?
This is What We Know:
Design Features — open-air infinity roof, modular sky panels, ultra vision cameras, frunk
Performance — 1,000 hp, 11,500 lb.-ft., 0-60 mph in 3.0 sec.
Drive Features — adrenaline mode, crab mode, next-gen super cruise
EV Tech — ultima battery, super-fast charging
GMC Hummer EV SUV
GMC noted that the Hummer Supertruck is”Just The Beginning” for the brand. In this latest video, GMC reveals the silhouette of a Hummer SUV. From what we know it will be an all-electric vehicle, just like the new Hummer pickup. We expect the Hummer EV SUV to have the same underpinnings as the forthcoming truck but with a fully-enclosed SUV wagon-style body. The silhouette of the new SUV looks very similar to the Hummer H3 SUV of the past. It also shares a stark similarity to the Toyota FJ Cruiser.
When Will We Get The New Hummer EV Vehicles?
Still no word on pricing, but we should know nearly everything in the Fall of 2020 about the GMC Hummer EV pickup. At that time, GMC says it will reveal the truck and open reservations. Hummer slates production for Fall 2021. Expect deliveries in that timeframe as well.
This is our first glimpse of the new GMC Hummer EV SUV, so there is really no info available yet. We hope that both vehicles come in at a reasonable price, get made on schedule, and deliver on lofty stated stats and features.
