Red, racy, and bold the 2021 Toyota Corolla Hatchback Special Edition is coming. You’ll have to get your order in soon on this sporty hatchback though, as only 1,500 will be available. We’ll see the 2021 Corolla Hatchback Special Edition in late summer 2020. It might just be the start of the hot hatch action Toyota is bringing us for 2021.
2021 Corolla Hatchback Special Edition
Take the brawny good looks of the 2021 Toyota Corolla hatchback and add a dash of racer boy styling. What you get is a factory limited-edition vehicle. A Supersonic Red paint job, black 18-inch wheels, and an aggressive body kit are what make the 2021 Corolla Hatchback Special Edition stand out from the crowd. The body kit adds exterior accents like side skirts, a black rear roof spoiler, a front splitter, and Special Edition badging.
What you don’t get with the 2021 Toyota Corolla Hatchback Special Edition is any interior or performance upgrades. The Special Edition is based on the SE CVT grade Corolla Hatchback. This setup gets you a 168-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a “simulated 10-speed Sequential Shiftmatic” CVT transmission with paddle shifters. Flappy paddles are fun, but they are no substitute for the raw driving experience of three-pedals and a stick shift.
Less Tire, More Storage
For all 2021 model year Toyota Corolla Hatchbacks you can option, for free, the new Enhanced Cargo Space option. The option deletes the spare tire and replaces it with a tire repair kit. What that does is lower the rear cargo floor and adds 6 cubic feet of cargo capacity. The Corolla Hatchback with this option has a total of 23 cubic feet of rear cargo room. It probably also reduces the weight of the car by a few pounds, which is never a bad thing in a sporty hatchback.
This option is not available on 2021 Corolla Hatchback SE Nightshade Edition.
2021 Corolla Hatchback Saftey Upgrades
As with all 202o and newer model year Corollas, this Special Edition model will get the Toyota Saftey Sense 2.0 suite of driver-assisted technologies. That’s not all, however, as for 2021 the Corolla Hatchbacks also get rear seat-mounted side airbags standard and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Blind Spot Monitor as an option (standard on XSE grade and Special Edition).
More Toyota Hot Hatches Coming Soon?
“The 2021 Hatchback Special Edition foreshadows even more excitement still to come in the hatchback segment …”
This ominous statement has us excited. What more could Toyota have up its sleeve on the hot hatch front? Could we actually see the real hot hatch Toyota Corolla GR Hatchback hit US roadways?
