With fuel prices dropping and fuel efficiency being noticeably improved, truck sales are booming. Americans were never buying as many trucks and the Ford F-150 (sure, the F-series too) is the sales leader. Trying to cash in as much as possible, Ford just introduced an all-new package for the F-150 and the F-series. It is called the STX Appearance Package and it is created to enrich the base F-150 and Super Duty without a drastic price increase. We have heard of the car before. Four years ago Ford was rather successful selling the F-150 STX SuperCrew. Now, the package is available for the F-150, the F-250, and the F-350 including SuperCab or SuperCrew configurations.
“STX is for customers who want the utility of an F-Series truck in a stylish, well-optioned package at a competitive price,” said Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager.
The novelties are quite extensive, for the 2017 Ford F-150 STX Appearance package introduces us to 20-inch machined aluminum wheels, billet-style grille, body-color bumpers, “STX Sport” decals, and fog lights. Not bad really, considering that the STX improves on the XL package, but does not reach touch the XLT level of refinement.
For the F-150 STX, the prices start at $35,615. Apart from the cosmetics, Ford dropped in a few nice features. Most notably, the owners will enjoy Sync 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Everyone needs just that in this time and age. Just deal with it.
Apart from easier media and Internet management, the 2017 F-150 STX package garnishes the interior with cloth sports seats. These, apparently, have bigger side bolsters and lumbar support. Privacy glass and a flow-through center console finish everything off.
The F-Series received similar improvements. F-250 and F-350 start from $34,910 and $36,080 respectively. In short, new elements over the XL trim include a chrome grille, chrome front and rear step bumpers, “STX” fender-vent badges, exclusive aluminum wheels, steering-wheel-mounted cruise control, bright hub covers, and an AM/FM audio system with a CD player.
The 2017 Ford STX is available, more or less, in every and any engine/layout configuration. For the F-150 it can be had with 2.7-liter EcoBoost, 3,5 liter EcoBoost or five-liter V8. As for the Super Duty, STX Appearance package can be ordered with either the 6.2-liter V8 petrol engine or the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel.
